SAMPDORIA survived a late Juventus fightback to secure a shock 3-2 victory.

Juve went into the game odds-on to bag the three points, but their hopes of making it six games in a row unbeaten were ended.

Three second-half goals from Duvan Zapata, Lucas Torreira and Gianmarco Ferrari looked like they were taking Sampdoria to a well-deserved victory.

But a Gonzalo Higuain penalty and a fine strike from Paulo Dybala in injury-time ensured it was a nervy end for the home side's fans.

Juve could have taken the lead after just two minutes, but Higuain fired an effort from just inside the penalty area inches wide.

The Argentine striker did have the ball in the back of the net on 27 minutes, but it was ruled out for offside after he smartly finished after a ball in from Stephan Lichtsteiner.

It was the form team that were dominating proceedings, and Sampdoria's chances were hit when they were forced into an early change with Dennis Praet coming off injured.

But despite enjoying the majority of possession, Juventus were simply not firing on all cylinders.

And the chance of a shock became very real seven minutes into the second half when the hosts took the lead.

A poor attempted clearance from Federico Bernardeschi flew up into the air and over to Duvan Zapata, who got the better of Lichtsteiner before guiding a lovely header into the top right-hand corner of the net.

Juventus nearly equalised just three minutes later, but Higuain's header down in the box failed to find a team-mate and it was cleared.

The Old Lady were rocking, and in desperation they turned to Paulo Dybala from the bench, as he replaced Bernardeschi.

But he had been on the pitch less than ten minutes when Sampdoria and their fans were in ecstasy.

Zapata and Fabio Quagliarella linked up well on the edge of the Juventus box before the latter nods the ball down to Gaston Ramirez.

The Uruguayan quickly sets up Torreira, who stormed onto the ball and rifled an excellent strike straight into the bottom left-hand corner of the net.

And eight minutes later the home fans had tears in their eyes as their heroes incredibly netted a third.

A curling cross easily picked out Quagliarella at the far post, and the striker poked a pass across the face of goal to set up Ferrari to blast in from close range.

Juventus knew they had to chuck everything forward to get anything out of the game, and finally came alive - albeit in injury time.

First Higuain netted from the penalty spot after Douglas Costa was fouled in the area, and then Dybala ended a fine run with a sweet finish in the 95th minute.

It was a nervy end to the game from Sampdoria when it really shouldn't have been, but they held out to record a worthy win.
